Risk management for safety-related departments (GRM) provides risk-management knowledge and principles for departments outside the safety function, helping each department understand its role in identifying and controlling risk and strengthening coordination across the organization.
Delivered for: Vietnam Airlines
Program information
- Duration: 2-3 days
- Format: In person, classroom-based
- Audience: Personnel from departments across the organization
- Instructor: Expert in risk management
- Class size: 30 participants
Why does risk management need to be extended across the whole organization?
A risk management system can hardly deliver its full effect if risk identification and control are concentrated in only a few units. In practice, the activities of many departments may contain risks that need to be identified and assessed.
However, in many organizations:
- Risk is seen as the responsibility of the safety department alone
- Other departments have not yet been equipped with risk management knowledge
- Lack of coordination in identifying and controlling risk
- Operational activities still carry risks that have not been assessed.
This leaves the risk management system short of real effectiveness.
The problem therefore does not lie only in the capability of the safety department. When departments do not yet share a common foundation in risk management, the organization will find it difficult to form the coordination needed to identify and control the risks that arise from each department’s own activities.
Objectives of the GRM Program
The Risk Management for Safety-Related Departments program aims to equip the entire organization with a foundation in risk management.
The program helps participants to:
- Understand the Principles of Risk Management in Aviation
- Mastering the risk management process
- Identify the role of each department in risk management
- Strengthen coordination among departments.
The important point is that each participant approaches risk management not only as a general concept, but also gains a clearer understanding of their department's role in the organization's risk management system.
Program content
The Program Focuses on Three Content Areas:
Principles of aviation risk management:Provide a foundation for participants to understand the principles of risk management in the context of aviation operations.
Risk management process:Help participants master the risk management process, providing a basis for identifying the role and involvement of each department.
Foundation for advanced training:The program also lays a foundation for the organization to continue delivering advanced training programs on risk management.
Three topics are built with a clear logic, from understanding the principles and grasping the process to forming a foundation for continuing to develop risk management capability.
Delivery approach
For risk management to reach each department, knowledge needs to be placed in the actual work context of the role the participant holds.

The course is therefore delivered by combining theory with practice and interaction, and by discussing scenarios department by department. This way of delivering the course helps trainees connect risk-management principles and processes with their specific roles, rather than approaching the content only at a theoretical level.
Value gained after the program
After completing the program, participants can:
- Understand risk management principles
- Identify risks in one's own work
- Enhance Coordination Between Departments
- Contribute to building a comprehensive risk management system.
The value of the program lies in extending risk-management awareness and foundations beyond the safety department alone. When each department understands the risks in its own work and its own role in the risk-management process, coordination within the organization has a basis on which to be strengthened.
Which units is the program suitable for?
The program is suitable for:
- The organization needs to implement risk management across the entire system
- Departments outside the safety function, such as finance, services, and operations…
- Enterprises need to build a foundation for advanced programs
Risk management is not the responsibility of a single department
Risk management needs to be implemented across the whole organization. Each department has different functions, activities, and work contexts. A risk-management program intended for many departments should therefore not deliver the same content in the same way; it needs to help learners connect general principles with their actual roles.
Hung Viet designs programs suited to each department, adjusts content to the specifics of the activity, and connects it with the overall risk management system, so that risk management knowledge is broadened and applied more appropriately across the organization.
