Vietnam Aviation Academy: Opening minds, Continuing the journey, Conquering the “Blue Ocean”

From 27 - 28/12/2025 at Le Palmier Ho Tram (Vung Tau), the Vietnam Aviation Academy (Vietnam Aviation Academy) organized a Workshop Program“Blue Ocean Strategy” -a core activity aimed at setting the strategic direction for the Academy's new development phase.

The workshop brought together the full participation of key leaders, including the Party Committee Executive Board, the Academy Council, and the Board of Directors, together with the heads of departments, faculties, specialized units, and affiliated mass organizations.

In a context where aviation education faces ever-growing competitive pressure, a strong demand for digital transformation, and higher expectations for workforce quality, the strategy“Blue Ocean”has been identified by the Academy as a core approach for moving beyond traditional competitive thinking and seeking new spaces for growth based on value innovation, differentiation, and sustainable development.

Instead of competing head-on in“red ocean”, the Academy proactively creates new value in training, research, and governance, suited to the specifics of the aviation industry and to society's development trends, placing the quality of student training at the center of every strategic decision.

Not only a purely strategic meeting, the workshop is designed as a“arena of ideas”open, where views are exchanged and challenged in a constructive spirit. The highlight of the program is 2 rounds of in-depth discussion and presentation for 5 interdisciplinary groups, bringing together members from many offices, faculties, and units across the Vietnam Aviation Academy.

The groups explored diverse strategic perspectives, from industry-level development directions such as:

• Automation and the low-altitude economy (LAE),
• Airport city – Aerotropolis,
• Human factors,
• Safety and security,
• Digital transformation in the aviation industry,
• Green Aviation Trends (Discussion Session 1),

To core issues at the organizational level, such as:

• Vietnam Aviation Academy in its role as an education services enterprise,
• Redesign the KPI System to Create Motivation,
• Enhance the Student Learning Experience,
• Develop students into brand ambassadors,
• Establish“Blue Ocean”in scientific research (Discussion Session 2).

Although they approach the question from different fields and at different levels, the discussions converge on one shared objective: finding new spaces for the Academy’s development, where every innovation in governance, technology, and organization is directed at raising the quality of training, the learning experience, and students’ professional capability.

Through multidimensional discussion, cross-critique, and persuasive presentation, thinking“Blue Ocean”has been transformed from strategic vision into feasible directions and solutions, creating a foundation for implementing development strategies in the next phase.

In particular, combining the administrative block and the training block within the same cross-functional teams brought out the effectiveness of Brain Teaming, helping strategic issues to be viewed in full and tied more closely to operational practice. The workshop at the same time became a“strategic playing field”effectively, creating the conditions for the Board of Directors and leaders at every level to hear directly the opinions, proposals, and initiatives from departments, offices, faculties, and units, thereby strengthening a high degree of consensus and unity in awareness and action.

The seminar has closed, but the value gained by the Vietnam Aviation Academy and by each person who took part is immense. Every member had the opportunity to practice and develop strategic thinking in the Blue Ocean direction (Blue Ocean Thinking), and at the same time to strengthen mutual understanding, bonds, and internal solidarity, creating a solid foundation for realizing the Academy’s strategic directions in the time ahead.
