A business strategy training course applying Blue Ocean thinking at the Electricity Group

The course trains personnel to apply Blue Ocean thinking in innovating the business methods of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), from the top of the organization to the bottom, and innovation ideas are formed professionally, with an understanding of the market and with feasibility built from the bottom up.

The training course provided a useful and relevant Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) tool for building the group's strategic development plan.

The structure of the training course consists of 4 phases:

• Phase 1:General training in management thinking and leader development for senior managers
• Phase 2:In-depth BOS training with simulation for general-level managers of the group.
• Phase 3:In-depth BOS training by thematic group for middle managers of the general corporations
• Phase 4:A group-level innovation idea day based on the Blue Ocean model.

Each BOS in Action training course at the corporations holds a corporation-level showcase day, in order to select the 2 strongest groups after 4 days of training and 6 weeks of coaching – consulting.

An ideas day with 5 corporations, each unit fielding 2 project teams, for a total of 10 projects, was held in 12/2020. All members who had studied BOS-in-Action gathered at the Group to hear the teams present and to take in the content over 1 day.

EVN Groupwill hold an Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner celebrating the spirit of innovation in the Group's business, and communicate widely to promote the Blue Ocean spirit, with the criterion“Increased Value - Reduced Cost”.

Training coursehas helped staff and managers in the group's business division grasp the concepts of BOS and how to apply them, together with successful business models around the world that use breakthrough technology and distinctive approaches to management and marketing.

At the same time, the EVN team also learned how to apply the tools to specific situations in practice.

Develop and strengthen strategic thinking in line with the group's need to innovate its business methods, and stay ahead of changing political, economic, and social conditions in an increasingly dynamic country and region.
